New Things for 2022

Good Morning and Happy New Year! Is it true that over ninety percent of all new year's resolutions are broken or abandoned by mid-January. So much for resolve and perseverance! Maybe you'll be the exception. Among the top five of almost any general list of resolutions is one's work (different job, less stress on the job, more productivity, earning more money on the job, etc.). So what are you planning to do with your new year at work?

There is one thing to ponder as you consider how the Lord is leading you with reference to your workplace ministry for 2022: God likes to do new things in us. The Lord says, "Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it?  I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."  (Isa. 43:19)  This was given, of course, as a picture for a broad exodus for the people of God who were (once again) oppressed. They would cry to God and He would do something new and wonderful in them.

The point? What was acceptable yesterday would no longer be the best option for tomorrow. The provisions of the past would not be God's provisions for the future. The direction of God's hand was about to change. New options and opportunities would now be available. And the changes the Lord was about to invoke would be like having a highway in the middle of the wilderness which one had been trying to otherwise navigate. The refreshing nature of what God was going to do would be like running into an oasis in the middle of the desert!  It was a hopeful, encouraging word for the future.

Your workplace challenge as you start this new year is to first recognize God's call upon your job as immeasurably sacred. It is where the Lord uses you for the better part of your waking hours. Set lofty goals for your workplace calling for 2022. Refuse to just keep doing the same old things the same old ways. Choose to be open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit as you work. Be aware of the new things God has ordained for your work personally. You will discover that you'll travel much further on this new "highway" and you'll be far more "satisfied" drinking from the water in the new oasis He provides. Of all the places in the world, your work and workplace should be among the most fertile for Christian ministry and productivity. Choose today to embrace the changes necessary and make the new year count for His Glory!
