Ministry Highlights
The last several months have been busy at The Other 6 Days. God has been at work among us as we have sought to encourage men and women all over America to engage their faith everywhere they go, 24/7, especially while they are serving the purposes of God through their workplaces.
Recently, it was our joy to host Os Hillman in Raleigh at a workplace ministry breakfast. Os is one of America’s leading workplace leaders. Visit his website at www.marketplaceleaders.org.
We were also thrilled to help birth Business As Mission (BAM), in the Raleigh, NC, area recently. Business As Mission is the body of Christ (all denominations) from all over the Triangle, North Carolina area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the Wake, Durham, Johnston, and Orange Counties). We gather for periodic luncheons in North Raleigh and seek to encourage business men and women as they represent Christ through their businesses and workplaces. (For more on BAM go to www.BusinessAsMission.biz.) It was our joy to host Patrick Morley as our guest speaker recently. Morley did an outstanding job in his presentation entitled, How to Survive the Economic Meltdown, a title shared by his most recent book and a timely message/challenge given our economic times. Below, see a few photos taken with Morley. The young man with our leadership team on Morley’s right is Jake Geer, our summer 2009 intern. We are blessed to have Jake on our team!
Our ministry leadership team recently traveled to Houston, Texas, to present a weekend of workplace ministry seminars and worship services. Formerly referred to as our Ex209 experience (from Exodus 20:9….Six days you shall labor and do all your work…”). We were at First Baptist Church, Humble, (Houston suburb) and had an incredible experience. Here are a few photos of that amazing weekend. It was very rewarding to see the “light bulbs” going off in many hearts and minds of Christian men and women as hundreds of them began to understand work as their personal and holy calling from the Lord. We commissioned (actually we recognized God’s commission to) over 1000 people to their own workplaces. Here are pictures of The Other 6 Days director, David Cox, leading one of the commissioning services…Powerful stuff!! Click here to view more pictures of this experience. We would love to come share this ministry with your church no matter where your church is located!
The 2009 Men’s Workplace Summit (mensworkplacesummit.com) is all set for September 18-20, 2009 in Asheboro’s beautiful Caraway Conference Center. Last year, it was an invitational conference only. This year, we are please to announce our partnership with Christ@Work (internationally known as F.C.C.I… Fellowship of Companies For Christ International…go to fcci.org for more info on this fine ministry) for an incredible opportunity for men to connect with other men to meet with God and each other around the theme of God’s presence at work! Click here for details and to get registered. We expect a sellout so get your registration in now! Below are a few photos of last years experience at Caswell Conference Center in Oak Island, NC.
